Hey there, fantastic working moms! If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably found been juggling a million things at once—from work deadlines to soccer practices and grocery runs. It’s a chaotic yet beautiful dance that we do every day, and sometimes, it can feel like we’re barely keeping our heads above water. 

But here’s the thing: we can survive and flourish as working moms despite the challenges!

As a health coach and fellow working mom of three, I’ve been balancing career, family, and self-care for quite some time now. And let me tell you, I’ve learned a thing or two along the way – some through trial and error and others through sheer necessity. But through it all, I’ve discovered that specific essential hacks can help us unlock a life of well-being, balance, and joy.

So, if you’re ready to take control and thrive as a working mom, let’s explore eleven essential hacks that have helped me and countless other working moms reclaim our sanity, prioritize our health, and find fulfillment in our careers and families. Hack #1: Prioritize Self-Care

Make self-care a priority, even amid a busy schedule. Whether it’s carving out time for morning meditation, a workout, or reading an exciting book after the kids are in bed, prioritize activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Self-care can have many positive aspects in everyday life and send a message to your brain that you are important, too. 

Hack #2: Delegate and Outsource

Delegate tasks and outsource responsibilities to lighten your load. Whether hiring a babysitter for a few hours a week, asking your partner to take on more household chores, or enlisting the help of a virtual assistant, remember that you don’t have to do it all alone.

Hack #3: Embrace Flexibility

Embrace the power of flexibility in your work and home life. I advocate for flexible work arrangements, like remote work arrangements and flexible working hours, and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance rather than rigid schedules. This flexibility will allow you to manage your schedule better and be open to adjusting plans and routines to accommodate unexpected changes. This hack helped me because being able to work from home a few days a week can provide the flexibility to attend school events and doctor’s appointments or spend more time with family.

Hack #4: Cultivate Support Systems

Remember, it’s not a sign of weakness to ask for help. It’s a strength. Build a strong support network of friends, family, and fellow working moms who can offer encouragement, advice, and assistance when needed. Lean on your support system during challenging times, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when necessary. You’re not alone in this journey and your well-being matters. 

Hack #5: Practice Mindfulness and Gratitude

Incorporate mindfulness and gratitude practices into your daily routine to cultivate a sense of being present in the moment and positivity. Take a few moments each day to practice deep breathing, meditation, or gratitude, and notice how it impacts your overall well-being. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude by focusing on the positive aspects of your life. This practice will awaken your conscience about yourself, others, and the world. Integrate a picture of yourself compared to others and the world around you.

Hack #6: Pursue Growth and Fulfillment

Set goals, pursue passions, and prioritize personal and professional growth. Whether taking a course to expand your skills, starting a side hustle, or simply carving out time for hobbies and interests, make time for activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. This hack was massive and life-changing for me. Since running on empty, I realized I missed my old self the most. That was the point in my life when I enrolled for my health coach certification when everything changed. I started to try different workout applications, check the progress, cook separate meals for myself, try different dietary styles, enroll in personal development courses, and I am still on this journey.

Create a family calendar with important events, appointments, and deadlines to keep everyone on the same page. Use a shared digital calendar or a physical wall calendar to ensure everyone knows about upcoming commitments and activities.

Hack #10: Practice Time Blocking

Time blocking, is simply allocating specific blocks of time to different tasks and activities throughout the day, can be a game-changer for working moms seeking to maximize efficiency and find balance amidst the chaos of daily life. With time blocking, you can avoid multitasking and burnout and maintain focus and efficiency. For example, you could allocate a block of time in the morning for work-related tasks, a block in the afternoon for family activities, and a block in the evening for self-care.

Prioritize regular breaks throughout the day to recharge and prevent burnout. Whether it’s a quick stretch, a walk around the block, or a coffee break with a friend, taking breaks can help improve focus and productivity.
